This beach is mostly sand bottom (rocky at the southern end) with very strong shorebreak type surf. The surf can be large and dangerous with numerous rip currents and heavy shore break waves year round.

Popular activities at this beach are skimboarding and other sand activities. There is a sidewalk that runs from the children's play structure all the way to the popular Lost Pier Cafe on the south end. Shower and restroom facilities are provided on the south end of the parking lot as well.
